Laura Rossmann, Executive Director

Laura Rossmann has been in the nonprofit world for 10 years.  She was previously the Executive Director at Family Support Network and at The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic for Childhood Language Disorders.  Before she started her work in fundraising, she spent 10 years in marketing research, the last 7 of which were running her own business. She serves as Vice President of Professional Development on the Association of Fundraising Professionals St. Louis Chapter Board of Directors, as Vice President of the CORO Women in Leadership Alumni Association Board, and on the Board of Directors of Memory Care Home Solutions. She is very glad to bring her business and marketing background as well as her experience in fundraising and administration to The Wellness Community.

Laura Eller comes to The Wellness Community with over 20 years of financial and administrative experience. She spent the last 10 years at The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St Louis, where she was the director of finance for 4 years and executive director for 6 years.

Kevin Ferris, MSW, LCSW, CMC, Associate Program Director

Associate Program Director, The Wellness Community of Greater Saint Louis

Kevin spent 10 years working with hospice patients,  their caregivers and extended families before opening Ferris Counseling Services: Integrating Mind, Body, Spirit in 2002 - a private practice focused on clients with life-threatening illness, grief, and other issues involving loss and transition.  She also speaks publicly on many topics and teaches and advocates for Financial Wellness as a necessary component to any stress reduction program. The keystone to Kevin’s clinical approach is Mindfulness – utilizing the tools of meditation, guided imagery, and body awareness exercises, among others. Her favorite quote (by Alan Cohen) is: “History is NOT Destiny...”

Kevin currently serves The Wellness Community as Associate Program Director, and facilitator for a Caregiver Support Group, the Gynecological Cancers Networking Group, and the Bear Essentials Support Group for children with a parent who has cancer (Kevin facilitates the Parent Group).

Ms. Charli Prather is a proud graduate of Southern Illinois University / Carbondale, Illinois.  She has over 18 years of experience working with patients with chronic illness as well as hospice, teaching at the university level and workshop development for nurses and social workers in hospice and long term care.

Charli has a personal commitment to the caregiver/co-survivor role and feels that the special people providing the day to day care to people with cancer are in need of supportive listening and counseling as they walk through chronic illness on a day to day basis. As a cancer survivor, she understands the uniqueness of each person’s cancer experience. She also volunteers for the Cancer Agencies Network and Lambert Field USO.

Charli facilitates the weekly women's Support Group and the Blood Cancers Monthly Networking Group at The Wellness Community.

 

  
Linda Novak, Marketing and Volunteer Manager

Linda Novak is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Honors English and an MFA in Writing and Poetics from Naropa University.  She brings more than nine years of event marketing, volunteer management, and marketing communications experience to The Wellness Community as the Marketing and Volunteer Manager.  She is delighted to bring her corporate marketing experience to the Wellness Community and looks forward to getting to know volunteers, participants, and supporters at The Wellness Community and at our events.

Please contact Linda Novak if you or someone you know would like to volunteer as a greeter at The Wellness Community, a mailing volunteer, a special event volunteer, a health fair volunteer and/or as a volunteer in our Ambassador program which helps get our information out to local medical offices.

Janet Schoedinger, Special Events Coordinator

Janet Schoedinger has worked in development/fundraising in the St. Louis area for more than twenty years for organizations that include the Arts & Education Council, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, the St. Louis Conservatory and School for the Arts (CASA), Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and The AIDS Foundation of St. Louis.  After working as a consultant for two years, she was pleased when the opportunity came along to work part-time for The Wellness Community.  As a very grateful cancer survivor it is giving her a chance to give something back.

Peggy Plont is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations. Her background includes more than 15 years in marketing and fundraising for several non-profit organizations including a local Economic Development Agency, The Missouri Botanical Garden and a Residential/Therapeutic Treatment Center for Children.

Julie Noel, RDLD (Registered, Licensed Dietitian)

Julie Noel is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BS in medical dietetics and food and nutrition. She has over 20 years experience working with individuals with chronic disease, as a clinical dietitian, as well as providing individual nutrition counseling. Her career background includes 7 years as a hospital-based dietitian in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Kingsport, Tennessee and 13 years as a renal dietitian working with dialysis patients at Renal Care Group and the Regional Dialysis Center in St. Louis. Recently she started Nutriwell Associates LLC, a private practice, to assist individuals in the local community with their nutrition needs, by promoting “Wellness Through Food.”

As a dietitian and breast cancer survivor, Julie is passionate about nutrition as a means to promote wellness. She is delighted to join the staff at the Wellness Community to assist and serve cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers with nutrition therapy and education and looks forward to meeting each participant. Julie is providing individual nutrition counseling at the Wellness Community and will provide group nutrition education, starting in 2010

 

 

  
Susie Dietz McGaughey

Susie Dietz McGaughey is a registered art therapist and a provisionally licensed professional counselor. In addition to facilitating art therapy programs for the Wellness Community, Susie provides group and individual art therapy counseling to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems. Past experience includes hospital and hospice work, creative arts programming for refugee youth, and offering art therapy to families in an American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge Center. Susie has a special interest in and extensive training in the dramatic arts as well and believes strongly in the power of all of the creative arts to heal, to support, and to empower.
